Zachary Verriden, Head of School

Zach Verriden comes to The Academy Hill School with a strong background in education.  Zach has served as a classroom teacher, principal and superintendent in schools across the country.  He has also launched a national educational consulting practice and served as the Senior Director of Youth and Family Programs at a local community center.

Zach is also a lifelong learner having studied educational policy and entrepreneurship at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the Rice University Jones School of Business and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

His civic engagement and commitment to community is demonstrated by his service as the Chair of the Longmeadow Select Board’s Coalition for Racial Justice Task Force, as a member of the Blueberry Hill Elementary School Council, a parent in the Special Education Alliance of Longmeadow (SEAL), as a leader with the Longmeadow Anti-Racism Coalition (LARC). Zach was also recently elected to sit as a member of the Longmeadow School Committee. He is also, most importantly, a partner and parent.

Zach and his wife Anya have four wonderful children who I hope you will all get to meet and know over time.  We truly value family and are humbled to be joining such a great one at Academy Hill.
